Centre is a solo project from multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Brayden Schmick. All starting from his collaboration with Grammy Nominated Gabriel and Dresden on his track "Remember" and then releasing his first solo EP "Inner Journey" two years later in 2022. He continues to produce his own imaginative, ambient cinematic, healing music and perform with many other groups. The last couple years he has performed primarily in the SW and NW with Salamander Collective, Tone Ranger, Seanchai, Stephanie Silverwing, and now his new duo Ancient Fusion.
Centre Sounds Label is a new label he has started out of his own studio outside of Santa Fe, NM. After finishing producing Stephanie Silverwings first album Archetypal Vol 1, he continues to bring together and produce many up and coming artists songs that he will promote and collaborate with.
This is one of my main passions and I find important to grow with and continue doing. There are many ways of healing through sound and I will always keep thinking about unique ways it can be done. I have always loved performing meditative sound journeys where I improvise over singing bowls and singing drones with viola, piano and voice. This has always felt so nourishing and transformative.
I also want to promote everyone to develop a practice with an instrument or their voice. Everyone is capable of expressing music and emotion through sound and by doing so will work wonders in their lives. I do this through teaching private one on one lessons and in how I relate with others in general. I also love having people up in the studio and exploring head phone world and create together.
Alongside headphone world I have also created a sound table, that has speakers underneath a table where I play live over tracks that I create while people feel the sound through their backs and in the headphones.
Reach out to me and let's connect on using sound for healing.
Living in harmony with nature forces me to rethink how I need to live day by day. What I eat and how I get my food is something I need to work on. Growing food is an amazing practice I have done these last couple years and I find it so empowering yet humbling. This tension leads me to envision hopefully living in an artistic and sustainable community in the near future. My hopes are that these places will be sprouting all over the world these coming years. I want to promote this way of living and help communities start and connect with other local villages. If you are also passionate in this reach out to me and let's build something together.
I also want to be a creator/helper for awareness festivals/retreats/promotions/movies/etc. There is so much knowledge that is not shared and commonly known and I want to collaborate and find ways to promote ideas about balance/sound/nutrition/expression/community/etc. to everyone willing to listen. Reach out to me if you have ideas or projects that I can help with!
There are layers to choosing the name. During the process of creating the EP I held the belief that these songs came "through me and not from me". As much as this concept of self discovery and my readings deeply inspired me as an individual, I see this story as something beyond me. I don't want it to be about Brayden but rather about this message.
The word centre for me became a reference point to where my inspiration and ideas came from.
It also become a symbol for my aim as an individual. The centre is a balance point between two forces and balance is something I will always aspire to. Through balance one attains clarity, focus, peace and much more.
If you want to talk more about any of this please reach out. There is much more on this topic I love sharing.
